Hae Bee Hiam Spring Rolls - Air Fried

CNY is here again and my kitchen is once again opened for baking goodies.

This year, I'm trying some new recipes and this was inspired by my colleague.

Hae Bee Hiam Spring Rolls is yet another delicious CNY treat. Almost everyone I know loves this. It's one of the "premium" goodies besides pineapple tarts due to its pricey tag.

Tradionally, these rolls are deep fried in oil. Since air frying is "oil free" and healthier, I'm all in!

Spring roll / Popiah skin

Hae Bee Hiam / Spicy dried chilli shrimp floss

Both can be found easily at local supermarkets.

Recipe and step by step instructions adapted from What to bake today?

Spicy dried chilli shrimp floss spring rolls

Verdict:

  • The shrimp floss gets charred easily before the spring roll skin turns brown.
  • Air fry at lower temperature (160 deg) and keep stirring to prevent the charting.
  • Other than that, tasted good without the guilt of deep frying!
